Robert Grugel Obituary
Robert L. Grugel "Uncle Bob", age 81, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his sister, Lois Evans; nieces: Linda Evans, Beverly (Billy) Arnold, and Cathy (David) Sellers; four great nephews: Whalen Arnold, Nicholas (April) Arnold, Jeff (Jodie) Sellers, and Kyle Sellers; three great-great nephews: David, Dylan, and Peyton. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2012 at 9:30 AM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN with Reverend David Trexler officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday February 12, 2012 from 2:00-8:00 PM. Bob was retired from the Town of Griffith with 37 years of service in the water dept. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and a member of VFW Post 1563 in Merrillville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post 1563 Memorial Fund. www.kuiperfh.com

I was so very sorry to hear about Bob's passing today. He was a trademark at Oak Ridge Prairie and I stopped and spoke with him on numerous occasions. We always joked about me being a Sox fan and him not. This past year I got him out of the car for about 5 minutes to take a very short walk to see some orchids that he could not see from the road. He was very happy that I took him out there.
It is going to be rough now each and every time I drive thru and don't see his car in the parking lot.
He will be missed by many.......

I would see Bob every Saturday and Sunday at Oak Ridge Prairie in his Chicago Cubs Jacket and we would talk about the Cubs and Bears and Griffith Sports. He is sadly missed by us all!
