Samuel Campbell Obituary

SAMUEL D. CAMPBELL LOWELL, IN Samuel D. Campbell, 88, of Lowell, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 after a short illness. He was born February 2, 1923 in Sullivan, IN to William and Kathryn Campbell. He graduated in 1941 from Merom High School. On January 26, 1946, he married Marjorie Arnold. Sam and Marge were devoted husband and wife for 66 years. He is survived by his wife, Marge; daughter, Susan (Jim) Peterson; and son, Thomas Alan both of Lowell; grandchildren: Michael (Jessica Geheb) Peterson, Sara Peterson, and Tina (Darin) Porter; two great grandchildren; and sister, Ruby Robbins of Sullivan. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and two children: Gary and Nancy. Sam served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an airplane mechanic during WWII. He retired from Youngstown, Sheet & Tube Company after 30 years and then went on to work 10 years as head custodian of Hanover Central High School. Sam was always a hard worker and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed one. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Sam will be truly missed by his family and friends.
