CHICAGO, IL - Sofia Kambesis, age 86, of Chicago, IL, & Dyer, IN passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023. She was born on September 14, 1936 in Ancient Corinth, Greece.
Sofia was the devoted Matriarch of our family. Her extensive, generous Sunday family dinners will forever be a favorite memory of the family. Her undying love and devotion for all of her family is her legacy.
Sofia is survived by three of her five children, Patricia, Christ (Nichole) and Michael (Jennifer), her eight grandchildren, Sofia (Perez), Michael (Mamouzelos), Maria (Garza), Peter, Samuel, Sharri, Jacob and Alexander, her siblings Anastasios (Haroula), Fotini (George), and George (Jackie), her great grandchildren Samuel, Oscar, Isabella, Romel, Alexandra, Andrew, Noah, Elliott, Emmett, son-in-law Mammas, and her many nieces and nephews from around the world.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Kambesis, daughter Pamela (Mamouzelos), son Peter Kambesis, and sister Yanoula (Anastasopoulos).
Visitation will be held at on Friday June 9, 2023 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. at BURNS KISH FUNERAL HOME at 8415 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN 46321
The Church Ceremony will be on Saturday June 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church at 528 W 77th Ave, Schererville, IN 46375.
Immediately following the Church Ceremony will be the Burial at Evergreen Cemetery on 3401 W 87th St, Evergreen Park, IL 60805. Please leave condolences at www.burnskish.com.
