Thomas G. Lyons
SCHERERVILLE, IN- Thomas G. Lyons, age 79, of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 5, 2021 in his home. Beloved husband of Audrey Lyons (nee Kryszak) for 55 years; Loving father of Steven (Sue) Lyons, Randy Lyons, Derrek Lyons, Max (Cindy) Lyons, and Rachel Lyons; Loving grandfather of Mackenzie, Tyler, Carly, Ryder, and Trysten; Dear brother of Nancy (late Harry) Tucker and the late Terry Lyons; Brother-in-law of Nancie Lyons; Kind uncle of several nieces and nephews; Good friend Alice (late Bob) Gruszka and Bobby Gruszka (considered to be the 5th son). Preceded in death by his parents George and Dolores Lyons.
Thomas was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company after 37 years of being an electrician. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially hunting, scuba diving and driving his Corvette. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Memorial visitation Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:30 p.m. at SMITS FUNERAL HOME 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.
Memorial contributions may be given to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org. TOM WAS A GOOD FRIEND FROM FORD ! WE WORKED IN THE TRADES FOR YEARS. WE DIDN'T GET TO SEE EACH OTHER THAT OFTEN BUT WE TALKED ON THE PHONE(FOR SEVERAL HOURS AT A TIME) ! I WILL MISS THOSE CONVERSATIONS !

Audrey and Family, please accept our sincere sympathy. I went to school, and worked with Tom at Ford. I enjoyed being with him at School reunions and Ford Christmas parties. He was a very smart, and good friend.
Although, we are miles apart, and cannot attend the services for Tom, please know that my wife, Norene, and I will keep Tom and all your family in our prayers.

Sincerest condolences to the whole Lyons family. Tom will be greatly missed. He delighted with his Calloway adventure stories and memories and never spoke of his serious health issues although now I realize just how dire circumstances were. Prayers and deepest sympathies.

I shared Tom's obit on Facebook. I wanted our Cirvete Club members to be aware of his passing. Along with this note below:
Tom called to check on me after he heard about my illness. It was Oct 26, 2021. I asked him how he was doing he said " oh well you know". Then he started on another subject. We talked an hour on speaker phone so Rich could hear too. We planned on another call or try to update each other by email. Tom passed away 12-5-2021. We never got the chance. I did learn something about Tom that night. In the 70"s/80"s he entered some photography competitions. He placed well in them. But, he didn't keep up with it. He sold his equipment. Audrey & Tom are such good people! Audrey our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Tom and Audrey were always a joy to be with at our TF South High School and TF Golden Alumni Reunions. You could always count on them attending and being so much fun to be with. My prayers go out to Audrey and his family!

To me, Tom was always the intellectual regular guy! He appreciated having a tan that could rival George Hamilton, but read engineering magazines for fun! I will miss our conversations that always ended with something like, “ well we gave it hell, but will have to wait until next time to solve the world’s problems!” Love to Audrey and God Bless Tom and the family!
