Thomas Smock Obituary
Thomas W. Smock, age 70 of Saint John, IN passed away on March 7, 2017. He was born on June 6, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Horace and Margaret (Meinberg) Smock. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Darlene (Huebner) Smock of Saint John; daughter Nancy Anderson (Andy) of Anderson, IN; son Tim (Roberta) Smock of Lowell, IN; sister Peg (Marty) Gorce of Boulder, CO; grandchildren: Gracie Anderson, Emma, Kelsey and Ty Smock; mother-in-law Ester Huebner; brother-in-law Dane (Beth) Huebner; sister-n-law Michele Huebner; his faithful companion, golden retriever, Maggie; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Horace and Margaret Smock; father-in-law Jack Huebner; and brother-in- law Darrell Huebner. Tom was a 1964 graduate of Morton High School in Hammond, IN. He was a lifelong area resident and retired from Inland Steel after 33 years of service. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, tending to his pool, lawn and garden, playing with his many dogs over the years, golfing, and was a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan. Visitation Friday March 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. St. John. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and SHARE foundation in Tom's name. www.fagenmiller.com

How very sad to learn of Tom's passing. We were boyhood friends and neighbors with so many fond memories. Thought of Tom always through the years. My very best to Peggy during this very difficult time.

I was jolted to see that Tom has passed this morning. We were good friends for 30 years at Inland. He was the Arnold Palmer of golf to me. My deepest sympathies to Darlene and all who loved him.
