Violet Bubnovich Obituary

VIOLET SERDAR BUBNOVICH HAMMOND/ ROBERTSDALE, IN
Violet Serdar Bubnovich, 88, of Hammond/Robertsdale, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2011. Born in Chicago to George and Anna Serdar, she grew up on the East Side of Chicago and worked for RR Donnelley during World War II. Married in 1946 to Walter Bubnovich, who preceded her in death in 1993, they moved to Hammond / Robertsdale, where she raised their three surviving children, Nick, Bob and Desa, more than earned a living as a homemaker, was a friend to many and a wonderful neighbor. Violet lived in the same house until her death and was an active member of Plymouth Congregational Church for 57 years. Violet enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bridge and was an avid sports and Chicago fan. She was a lifelong, die hard Cubs fan, but sadly, like many people, never saw them win a World Series. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ben and Sam Bubnovich; her sister, Pat Sima; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her brothers: George, Mike, and Bob Serdar; and sisters: Mildred Nicksic and Helen Shaw. A memorial service will be held at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Robertsdale on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the NW Indiana Symphony (www.nwisymphony.org) or the Wolf Lake Initiative (www.wolflakeinitiative.org).

So sad to read about Mrs. Bubnovich's passing. I grew up with Nick, Bob (GRC Class of '66) and Desa in the Water Gardens area of Whiting, on Stewart Court.

She was such a cute, tiny woman; blessings to her and the entire family.
