ESMAN--Aaron H., MD. Aaron H. Esman, MD, born December 9, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA to Hermoine Bernstein Esman and Meyer Esman. Died March 21, 2022, in New York, predeceased by his brother Milton. Survived by his adored and loving wife of 70 years, Rosa Mencher Esman, and his three loving daughters Susanna Esman Singer, Marjorie Ruth Esman (Jonathan Wallick) and Abigail Ruth Esman (Peter Madden), and two grandchildren Max Esman Singer and Hannah Esman Chafetz. An eminent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, he was a graduate of Cornell University, Cornell Medical College, and the New York Psychoanalytic Institute where he was a valued member and taught and served as President. He was Chief Psychiatrist of the Jewish Board of Guardians (now Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services), retired as Chief of Adolescent Psychiatry at Cornell Weill Medical College, and taught and lectured extensively including at Austin Riggs Center (Stockbridge MA) and Columbia School of Social Work. A teacher, mentor, scholar, and lover of art, music, and literature, he wrote widely on issues pertaining to psychoanalysis, mental health, and the arts. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends and colleagues.
