ALBERT FRANCO Obituary

FRANCO--Albert G., died May 2, 2023, was born in Brooklyn on August 10, 1935 to Gabriel and Bess Franco who emigrated from Rhodes and Turkey. Albert went to Abraham Lincoln High School, excelled at math (and handball) and then attended Columbia School of Engineering and Columbia Engineering graduate school on a full scholarship. Albert began his career at IBM and then started his own company which he took public in 1972. The company, Ultimacc, was listed on the Boston Stock Exchange (later Nasdaq) and specialized in computer automation of small to mid-sized companies. Albert met Fanny Kligman in 1960 on a blind date and they married shortly thereafter. Fanny was born and raised in Colombia, South America and had moved to the United States to attend college. Albert and Fanny lived in Tenafly, New Jersey from 1972 until August 2022. Albert battled Alzheimer's disease and was alert until the end. The family is grateful for the support of friends and family who made the effort to visit and communicate with him. Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Fanny, daughters Laura and Stephanie Franco, sons-in-law David Kostin and Dr. Michael Scherl, grandchildren Alex and Julia Kostin, and amazing sister, Lillian Krasner.
