ALEXANDER RIMALOVSKI Obituary

RIMALOVSKI--Dr. Alexander Boris, of Old Westbury NY, respected husband, father and grandfather, died of cancer at 83 at North Shore University Hospital on January 4. Alex, son and grandson of physicians, grew up in Plovdiv, Bulgaria through German and Soviet occupations. He graduated with an MD from the University of Sofia, and then emigrated to Israel and served as a Captain and Flight Surgeon in the Israeli Air Force. In 1961, he came to the US and completed residencies in internal medicine and neurology at Downstate Medical Center and Montefiore Hospital. Dr. Rimalovski practiced Neurology on Long Island, serving as Chief of Neurology at St. Francis Hospital and Pilgrim State Hospital. He was an avid photographer, tango dancer, and scholar, fluent in five languages. He is survived by his beloved wife Beryl, three sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin and Ilysse, Erik and Faye, and Noel and Janet, and six grandchildren, Lila, Marlo, Natasha, Nate, Nicolas, and Alexander. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Walt Whitman House Commemoration Program. www.waltwhitman.org
