BORYS PATCHOWSKY Obituary

PATCHOWSKY--Borys, August 11 at 79. Born Peremyshl March 28th 1931, raised in Lviv, Ukraine. Survived WWII and aftermath. Graduated summa cum laude, CCNY University. Art Director of Stereo Review Magazine for 22 years, founding member of the Ukiyo-e Society. Survived by his wife, Joan, daughter, Katja, son Andrew. Memorial service October 2, 3pm, Church In The Gardens, 50 Ascan Ave., Forest Hills, NY. Reception to follow with exhibit of work.

My name is Laura (Masserman) Kaminsky and I was saddened to learn of Borys's death today while doing some research on the internet. I worked in the Advertising Production department of Stereo Review in the early-mid 1960s and we occasionally collaborated on layouts. I also remember feeling somewhat intimidated by his brilliant mind and artistic talent. He knew I was particularly fond of his woodcuts, and he generously presented one to me when I was married in 1965. It still hangs in our dining room today. My deepest sympathy to the Patchowsky family for their loss.
