BRIAN GOLDNER Obituary

GOLDNER--Brian David. The beloved, long-time Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Hasbro died on Monday in Barrington, Rhode Island. He was 58. During his 21-year career at Hasbro, he was the heart and soul of the Company and led its transformation from a company traditionally known for toys and games, including Transformers, Monopoly, Nerf, and My Little Pony, into a global play and entertainment company with broad interests in film, television, and digital gaming. Known for his passion and exuberance, Mr. Goldner was as comfortable among the employees at Hasbro's headquarters in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and costumed fans, as he was with the titans of Hollywood and global government leaders. Behind Mr. Goldner's easy, unflappable demeanor, lay a tireless work ethic and determination which ensured Hasbro's transformation and changed the industry forever. He was a visionary, leading Hasbro's push into TV and film, including successful adaptations based on the Transformers and G.I. Joe brands. In 2019, he oversaw Hasbro's $4 billion acquisition of independent studio Entertainment One, realizing his vision for omni-channel, branded storytelling. Mr. Goldner championed community and social responsibility, never straying from his belief that businesses should serve a larger role in society. Under his leadership, Hasbro was consistently recognized as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies and one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens. Mr. Goldner was born on April 21, 1963. As a six-year-old, he had a G.I. Joe Gemini spaceship, and dreamt of being an astronaut. He attended Huntington High School in Huntington, New York, and then Dartmouth College, where he majored in government. He began his career as a marketing and advertising executive before eventually moving to Bandai America, the subsidiary of a Japanese toymaker, in 1997. Mr. Goldner joined Hasbro in 2000 and was quickly identified as a visionary and special leader. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2006, Chief Executive Officer in 2008, and Chairman of the Board in 2015. Mr. Goldner is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara (Genick); his daughter, Brooke Goldner of West Hollywood, California; his mother, Marjorie (Meyer) Goldner of Lake Worth, Florida. He is predeceased by his son, Brandon, and his father, Norman. He is also survived by his brother, Bradford Goldner, Brad's wife Jennifer of Northport, New York; two nieces, Lucy and Lola; two nephews, Cody and Miles; a sister-in-law, Ellen Braun; and his much- loved dog, Biff. After nearly four years since my cousin Brian´s
passing I still think of him, and remember the
days from way back when we played chess
at his family´s home in Huntington, L.I.
Prayers for my cousin Brian!

My condolences to Brian´s mother, my cousin Margie, his wife Barbara, and his brother Brad. And to the people he touched at
Hasbro... My Memory of Brian...
One of my best memories was during the Jewish Holidays in
1967 when upon returning from visiting his grandmother,
Reba Goldner, he went with me to buy an apple pie my mother
had given me 75 cents to buy. I remember saying to myself
how neat it was to have a little brother, even if just for a few
minutes.
Best Regards,
Richard Friedman

To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this wonderful man Brian Goldner fine comfort with you during this difficult time in your lives. The legacy Brian Goldner left behind was memorable as a longtime CEO of the toys and games giant Hasbro, as well as a film producer that will not be forgotten. We have the hope and trust in God that one day there will be no more diseases, like this cancer, what a wonderful time that will be. May the God of all comfort who is the hearer of prayers be with you in your time of need with his loving kindness and peace as He strengthens you to cope during this difficult time. May family, friends and extended family cherish his memories.

Brian was my grandfather's grand-nephew and I have many warm memories of Brian, his brother Brad, and his parents Margie and Norman (kind, kind, people) coming for Thanksgiving, Passover, or other special events to my grandparent's apartment on West 93rd Street. As generations have been lost, first Martin, then both of my grandparents in the first decade of the 2000s, and now my parents in the last year, the distance has grown and contact has been lost. All I can say to Barbara, Brian's children, Margie, and Brad is that the Gale descendants join you in mourning the loss of our cousin who was clearly an amazing human being. Wishing you peace in a rough time and that Brian's memory is a blessing to all of you. Please know that you have a number of cousins thinking of you.

I have no idea what impelled me to Google my cousin,
Brian Goldner last Saturday night. But upon becoming cognizant
of his passing just days earlier. It was like a massive blow to my
chest which I still feel. Most of my memories of Brian are from
when I lived with my mother in the Bronx, and we would visit
with his family in Huntington, LI. I recall his room up stairs
under a pitched roof, filled with all kinds of toys, and we would
play chess, and other games.
My condolences to my cousin Marge, his mother, his family,
and to the people at Hasbro who he touched with his dedication
and sincerity.
Best Regards,
Richard Friedman
