BYRON WIEN Obituary

WIEN--Byron. The trustees and staff of the New-York Historical Society mourn the passing of Trustee and Executive Committee member Byron Wien. Byron's vision of our institution as the premier destination for American history in New York has guided our growth and development since his election to our board in 2000. We are truly blessed that for more than two decades, the man referred to as the "Wall Street Sage'' applied his brilliance to advocating for new and bold strategies to strengthen our finances and make connections with prospective trustees and donors. He also personally, and generously, supported two major renovations to our galleries as well as the construction of our new wing, currently underway. We will miss his intellect, his wit, his dedication, and his participation as a speaker in our annual Byron Wien Lecture in Financial History. Our hearts go out to Byron's beloved wife, Anita Volz Wien, who has also been a great friend to New-York Historical. Agnes Hsu-Tang, Ph.D., Chair; Andrew H. Tisch, Executive Committee Chair; Rick Reiss, Trustee and Former Executive Committee Chair; Suzanne Peck, Co-Vice Chair; John Monsky, Co-Vice Chair; Louise Mirrer, Ph.D., President & CEO
