CARROLL SWAN

SWAN--Carroll Donahue. Carroll Donahue Swan, widow of the late Thomas J. Swan Jr., died peacefully at home in Palm Beach on April 19, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. Mrs. Swan was born in Boston to Dr. Hugh Carroll Donahue, a prominent ophthalmologist, and Mrs. Rose Fitzgerald Donahue, who was a niece of Boston Mayor John Francis "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald and the first cousin of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. Mrs. Swan attended Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart and Trinity College. Mrs. Swan was a talented golfer. Mentored by Dick Chapman, a US and British amateur winner, she won many tournaments before retiring from golf due to injuries. She also applied her competitive spirit to bridge. She was a past chairman of the Duplicate Bridge Committee at the Bath and Tennis Club in Palm Beach, and she also played bridge at the Everglades Club, the Wianno Club and the Oyster Harbors Club. Mrs. Swan's true pride was being a mother, wife and grandmother. She leaves her son, Thomas J. Swan III, of Prides Crossing and Osterville, six grandchildren, Sam, Rose, Grace, Hope, Jake and Sebastian, her brother-in-law, Joseph Edward Swan, Sr. and his three children, Jed, Tiffany and Keith. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Gerald.
