Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lat and David,
I met Charlene less than one month ago, when we began our Master's program together at NYU. Charlene's humor, insight, and phenomenal writing skills were apparent to and appreciated by her classmates, and we were stunned to hear of her passing. I was privileged to have shared in personal conversations with Charlene regarding her struggles and her future goals. Several of my classmates and I attended Charlene's calling hours Thursday, and were moved and grateful for the beautiful way her life was celebrated in picture and word. We appreciated the chance to get to know her better. Charlene will long remain in my thoughts and prayers, as will your family.
Sincerely,
Nanette Evangelista

Dear Iman and Zenda,
Indeed shocked to hear the sad news about how your beloved daughter left this world. It's really heart-rending, even if I didn't know who the parents were. The fact is, I've known Iman since we were teens and have interacted with your family on some class reunions held in NJ.
Will be dropping by Ridgewood tomorrow evening to view Charlene and offer my prayers and presence as moral support to you both. Bon courage!

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your loved one. I am a complete stranger, and I was on that street the day this tragedy happened. I have closure to know that she at least had family that loved her. Once again my condolences.
