I started as a new surgical attending at Mt Sinai where I spent an initial 3 months in the Respiratory Surgical ICU in the fall of 1976, before starting as the SICU Director at the Bronx VA. Chris was a brilliant, deeply knowledgeable truly noble and at times very funny man, who was a great role model for me. His considerateness and respect for (most!) others was genuine, though he could when necessary be a devastating critic. He was one of the most competent physicians I´ve ever met. It was a great privilege and real pleasure to know him. I join in expressing my deep regret at his loss and extend my deepest condolences to his family.

A great man leaves behind a significant legacy. He was a true giant in the field of anesthesia and a man of honor to the Bronx and its citizens. You will be missed, but your name will always be remembered at the Department of Anesthesiology at Montefiore.
