DAVID LANDAU Obituary

LANDAU--David,

beloved husband of Miriam and proud father of Dr. Mark (Linda) Landau and Laura (Andrew) Freedman and grandfather of four, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at age 90. David was a courageous Holocaust survivor and carried his remembrance with quiet dignity. He was born in 1925 in Kybartai, Lithuania. Confined for three years in the Kovna ghetto, then imprisoned with his father in Dachau, David was liberated by the United States Army and reunited with his father in a Displaced Person's camp. David received a mechanical engineering degree from Munich Institute of Technology. In 1950, after President Truman allowed DPs to enter the US, David sailed to America. He served in the US Army from 1951-53, then returned to school earning a Masters degree in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, in New Jersey. He pursued a successful career as a mechanical and consulting engineer. David was proud of Israel as a free nation in the same way that he valued his freedom as an American citizen.
