DEBORAH IGLEHEART Obituary

IGLEHEART--Deborah Shaner. Born September 2, 1930 in Philadelphia to Mary DeStillfried and John Shaner, Deborah Shaner Igleheart of Bloomfield Hills, MI passed away peacefully at home on September 23rd, with her husband of 69 years Addison Igleheart, "Add," at her side. Our mother loved life and all it offered. She worked as a children's librarian for many years while raising three daughters. She volunteered for the Michigan Nature Association in various capacities and was a passionate, early advocate for native plant landscapes. She enjoyed traveling far and wide, especially when family was involved. She had a special attachment to Leelanau County, "Up North" in Michigan, and to the East Coast, especially the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach area. It's difficult to fully express how warm and caring our mother was, how unjudgemental and full of joy. In recent years as she struggled with dysphagia after oral cancer and increasingly worsening mobility and dementia, she somehow continued to display an equanimity of spirit and quite frequent delight at just being able to enjoy the beauty of her surroundings, time with family and friends, travel, local outings and, always, music. Deborah was preceded in death by her beloved first daughter Susanna Elise Igleheart Bogue (2022) and her sister Suzanne (Merry) Shaner (1971). She is survived by her husband Addison, her half sister Barbara Von Klemperer (William Von Klemperer), her son-in-law Sean Bogue, her daughters Sarah Brooks- Miller (Scott) and Hilary Igleheart (Giorgio Leporati) and grandchildren Madilyne, Sean Og, Cameron, Brendan, and Alessandro, as well as more distant relatives.
