I am very saddened & sorry to hear that the exceptional Ed Hagerty has left the room. Ed was a year behind me at Holy Cross, a Rugby teammate on HC´s very first team ( & much better Rugby player than I! ) and much more than that, he was a friend. Regrettably, understandably, like so many college friends Ed & I lost track of each other in post-college years but I have never forgotten what a truly fine gentleman he always was. I learned of his passing from my daughter, HC, `88, who also played Rugby there. Small (Rugby) world! I remember an article Ed wrote in RUGBY magazine in the early 1990´s extolling a particular Left Wing Forward at Harvard whose play Ed had been favorably noticing throughout that season´s matches not realizing he was my son! Almost 30 years later the Rugby touchstone returned! May your memory be a blessing always for your family & friends, Edward. The world has been diminished by your departure & I shall be forever thankful for the memory of our friendship. Deep & prayerful condolences to your wife, your children, and your entire family. An outstanding human being has left us.
Respectfully,
Jim Bell, HC, `63
