EDWARD ROSEN Obituary

ROSEN--Edward Rosen died Wednesday at the age of seventy-four in New York Hospital. Lucky to have superb medical care and a fighting spirit, he controlled the effects of myelofibrosis for seventeen years, until leukemia finally overwhelmed his defenses. His family is grateful to everyone at New York Hospital, particularly those who work in the Five South ICU, for their kindnesses and skills. Neither he nor we could have been in a better place. A 1958 graduate of Cornell University's College of Architecture, Ed appreciated all Cornell had given him. In lieu of flowers, he would want gifts to go to Cornell at: Office of Alumni Affairs and Development, Cornell College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, 129 Sibley Hall, Ithaca, NY 14853 (indicating in honor or memory of Edward Rosen in the memo line). Ed was proud to be a Senior Vice President at Bovis Lend Lease, a firm he joined in 1984 and where he was still at work the day before he entered the hospital on April 8th. His years at Bovis provided challenges and successes; he relished both. Earlier he worked for General Foods and Ulrich Franzen & Associates. Ed leaves his wife Barbara; daughters Martha and her partner Peter Clark, Hannah and her husband Richard Turits, and Sarah and her husband Ted Wartell; brother Steve and his family; his cousins; and close friends the Weinblatts. His three grandchildren, Gabriel Rosen-Turits and Eleanor and Clara Wartell, were a source of pride and great joy. His aunt Trudy Rosen was a life-long source of inspiration and support. He is already missed by all of us. We thank all those who have expressed sympathy and condolences. A memorial gathering will be held at the University Club on Tuesday, April 20th at 4:30pm, One West 54th Street, NY. (Club dress code for men: jackets and ties.) Martha Rosen, Hannah Rosen, Sarah Rosen Wartell, and Barbara Rosen

We lived next door to Ed and Barbara for a number of years out in East Hampton. They were wonderful neighbors. We just heard today about his passing. Such sad news.

It was an honor to work with Mr. Rosen. He would often speak to me about his family including his special wife, daughters and grandchildren. Mr. Rosen was very dedicated to his position and the work he provided to his clients. His passion for life has touched me greatly and he will be greatly missed by all and remembered always for his achievements. My sincerest condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends. Ed had an infectious enthusiasm that rubbed off on those around him at work, albeit amongst all the stories and other good blarney in the conversations, We first met on the Canary Wharf project after I went to London in 1989, meeting him first for an interview before ending with the working directly for the client group. Being a Bovis globe girdler, he moved on to other places sooner than I did, but we did periodically get in touch every few years.
My sincerest condolences to all of you at this time, and may you keep all of the good memories as well.
