ELIZABETH TENENBAUM Obituary

TENENBAUM-- Elizabeth "Liz," Brody, passed away after a major stroke on March 4, 2022, at age 77. She was the first woman from A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon, NY to attend Radcliffe College (of Harvard University). This is where she affirmed her love of literature and met her husband, Joel Tenenbaum of Queens, NY. After earning a PhD in English from Stanford University, Liz and Joel moved to upstate New York. Following an additional Masters degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management and a brief stint at Doubleday Press, Liz returned to academia, ultimately taking on the role of Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs at the CUNY Graduate Center. Liz served as a professor of literature until her retirement. Liz is survived by her husband Joel; children Jessica, David, and Elena; grandchildren Zev and Darius Ghiladi and Maya and Zoe Shah and sons-in-law Reza Ghiladi and Rajesh Shah. Liz will always be remembered for her sharp wit, her iconoclastic values, and her love of travel, literature, food, and family.

Although Liz and I grew apart some time ago, I remember fondly our years of intense friendship at a time when it was important to both of us. My thoughts are with Joel and the whole family.
