ERWIN GONZALEZ

GONZALEZ--Erwin G., MD, a pioneer in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) died on September 3, 2025 in New York. Born in the Philippines, he earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas & immigrated to the US in 1968. He trained at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he later served as professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez also chaired the PM&R department at Beth Israel Medical Center, advancing spinal cord monitoring. Dr. Gonzalez became the first and only Asian American President of the American Academy of PM&R. He is survived by his siblings, Gladys and Ceferino.
