EUGENE GRISANTI Obituary

GRISANTI--Eugene P.

The Trustees, faculty, and staff of The Rockefeller University deeply mourn the death of our beloved friend and Trustee Emeritus, Eugene P. Grisanti. Gene will be remembered at Rockefeller for his generosity of spirit, his fervent commitment to the university, and the personal integrity that guided all aspects of his life. A respected business leader, Gene began his association with Rockefeller in 1991, when he was invited to join the university's Board of Trustees. Under his leadership as Chair of the Hospital Committee, the clinical research programs of the University thrived. In 2000, he was elected a Trustee Emeritus and continued to be a trusted advisor to the university's presidents. A generous benefactor, Gene contributed superb judgment, passionate advocacy, and abundant energy to Rockefeller, as well as to many of New York City's leading cultural institutions. With his lovely wife, Gretchen, Gene was an active presence at campus events and a lifelong ambassador for biomedical research and the university. We extend our deepest sympathy to Gretchen, to Gene's children, Mary Lee, Christopher, and Paul, and to his entire family. Russell L. Carson, Chair Richard M. Furlaud, Chair Emeritus Richard P. Lifton, President Barry S. Coller, Physician in Chief, The Rockefeller University Hospital

Gene was one of my all time favorite persons on this earth; a true gentleman. Although I supported Gene as his Executive Assistant at IFF for approximately 7 years, on a personal level, he was family to me. You are forever in my heart.

To his family, I know you will miss him dearly, but I know you have so many, many fond memories, as do I.

Love, Laurie Ridgeway
