F. CORKERY Obituary
CORKERY--F. Daniel. Francis Daniel Corkery, "Dan" to those who knew him, died February 7, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. His wife and children, Susan, Frank, and Catherine, his loving family and caregivers, were by his side. Services were delayed due to covid. A memorial will be held in Spokane, WA on July 28 in his honor. Dan was born in Spokane to Frank Corkery and Elizabeth "Bette" Meeks Corkery. The family spent their summers at their beloved cabin in Spirit Lake, ID where Dan later vacationed with his own family. Dan attended Spokane Catholic schools, eventually graduating from Washington State University and Gonzaga University School of Law. Since 2014 he had served as a board member of Gonzaga University's Investment Committee. Dan moved to Boston in 1978 to take a position with the Boston Regional Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in the Enforcement Division where he remained until 1984. He simultaneously received his Master of Laws from Boston University School of Law with a degree in Taxation. In 1984 Dan was offered a position in Manhattan with Paine Webber Group as Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Legal Head of Investment Banking. He later became Chief Corporate Counsel. Dan had met his wife, Susan Pomerleau, in Boston in 1979 and after their marriage in 1985, Susan and he moved to the Upper West Side to start their life together and later a family. After their son, Frank, was born they moved in 1989 to Ridgewood, NJ, and added a daughter, Catherine, a few years later. Ridgewood has been the family hometown for the past 32 years. In 2000, Dan joined UBS Financial Services as a Managing Director and Legal Head of Investment Banking. He stayed with UBS until he retired. He then worked as an independent consultant while continuing to serve as a board member on the Gon-zaga University Investment Committee. Aside from his wife, Susan, Dan leaves behind his children, Frank and Catherine. Also in mourning are his sister Paula Ford; his brother, Kevin Corkery; his sister, Pamela Almquist; and several nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Bette Corkery.
