GARRY GREENBERG Obituary

GREENBERG--Garry, 68, passed away April 25 due to complications from COVID. Garry was a third generation owner of Beckenstein's Fabrics and Interiors, a furniture and upholstery business, that has been a staple in New York City since 1918. Garry is remembered for his loving nature, generosity of spirit, and endless care for others (in all ways he was a big friendly giant, and gave the best hugs). He was passionate about reading, playing the piano, stubbornly believing in the New York Knicks, and listening to his favorite music on the beach. Garry is survived by his kids, Kyle and Devyn, his sister, Sharon, his brother-in-law, David and his nephews, Jake and Adam.

I worked with Gary many years ago in the summer of 1978. It was a summer job before I headed on to graduate school. The three months I spent working with Gary provided great memories for me and I realized he was a very special person at that time. Though we stayed in touch for a little while, we both went our separate ways as the years went on. I was very sorry to hear of Gary´s passing and wish I could´ve spent more time with him. My sincere condolences to the entire family.

I adored this man. Out friendship started as very young adults. He grew into a wonderful father, friend, and brother. I think of him all the time.

Shocked and extremely sad to hear the news. We collaborated on a couple of projects over the past ~14 years. To me, Gary was always a block away and ready to help. We exasperated each other sometimes, but neither of us allowed that to get in the way. I will continue to think of him often. Thank you, Gary, for being in our lives.

Garry was a very gregarious guy. He was always thoughtful and humble. He loved his children and always, proudly, spoke highly of them! He was always welcoming and happy to help in any way he could. We worked together successfully on many projects and he would always find a creative way to make things work! What a great human being. He wil be missed. Our conversations over a beer and fried calamari at the bar across the street , Aleo's , will be missed! May you rest in peace Garry! Your kids got this! You gave them an incredible foundation to thrive. May God Bless you !! Lesly

Bear is a nice way to think of him. He was so proud of his two children beyond anything else. I saw him last in January and was shocked to learn just this WE what has happened. I will celebrate knowing him as he would expect we to do.
