Mr. Chast was my Spanish teacher when I was in 10th grade. I wish I had studied harder in his class....he was a great teacher and a respectable role model.

Dear Elizabeth,

So sorry to hear that George is no longer, I have such lovely memories of our meetings…

You can't imagine how often I think of you and George, wondering whether you're still in Brooklyn (but I think not). It was so heartwarming to see you & to exchange a few letters when my mother died. I hope that George enjoyed his later years and that you're enjoying yours - with good books & music. How wonderful to have found this site. Roz, I saw a video of you too & perhaps we'll meet one day.

lots of love,

Judy

I was a student of Mr. Chast at Lafayette High School and became a French teacher because of his example. He was a scholar who presented languages to students in an interesting and unique way. I haven't seen him in many years but suffice to say he always remained in my heart.
