GLORIA JOYNER Obituary
Dunlap, 83, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family in San Francisco, California on January 29, 2017. She was born in Columbus, Mississippi on May 29, 1933 to Lawrence Edward and Eva Ulysses Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Lewis Bernard Joyner, and siblings, Eva Dunlap Williams and Lawrence Edward Dunlap, Jr. Gloria loved high fashion, fine arts, the performing arts, and traveling. She also had a passion and a magic for gardening. She was a dear friend and neighbor of Mrs. Earlie Few who provided companionship and comfort throughout her life. She taught in Catholic elementary schools in Chicago, Illinois and was very active with her daughters in Jack and Jill of America. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Karen Lynette Joyner-White and Pamela Joyner and her husband Alfred J. Giuffrida (Gloria's partner in humor); her granddaughters Crystal Campbell and Morgan Joyner Love, with whom she had a special bond; great-granddaughters, Caylen and Tyler Campbell; her sister, Ruth Dunlap Owens; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services are under the direction of The Bryant Mortuary in San Francisco, California. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests donations to CPMC Foundation at 2015 Steiner Street, San Francisco, CA 94115 / (415) 600-4400. Please make checks payable to CPMC Foundation and note it is for "Pulmonary Research and Education in Memory of Gloria Dunlap Joyner and in Honor of Dr. Ronald B. Elkin", who cared diligently, skillfully and compassionately for her during her protracted illness.
