HAROLD COLE Obituary

COLE--Dr. Harold. Born 1916 in Brooklyn and died at home November 21, 2009 in San Jose, California. Dr. Cole graduated University of Maryland, Princeton (post grad) and NYU Medical School. He served in WWII rising to Major. Awards included two bronze stars. Following the war, he had a successful private practice in pediatrics and was professor of pediatrics at NY Medical College where he became an expert in pediatric diabetes, contributing to five published textbooks. He was appointed Chief of Medical Services at the Bronx Developmental Center. Harold is survived by his wife, Carol, nephew Matthew Gruskin and niece Laura (Gruskin) Stemmle, numerous family members and colleagues, all of whom are deeply saddened, and recall him as a person of intelligence, great wit and charm.

Dr. Cole was my pediatrician in Rutherford, NJ. He was a dynamic human being and a caring and loving care giver. It was a pleasure re-connecting with him a few years ago. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
