HELENE KAPLAN

KAPLAN--Helene. The Trustees, Faculty, Students, and Staff of the Mount Sinai Health System mourn the passing of Helene Kaplan, who served with distinction for 25 years as Trustee of the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Helene held leadership positions spanning both institutions, most notably as Chair of the School of Medicine, and she played a major role in leading Mount Sinai through a period of tremendous growth and integration between our academic and clinical enterprises. A dedicated philanthropist, Helene will long be remembered for the indelible impact she had on the charitable, educational, and cultural organizations who benefited from her generosity and expertise. In 2001, she was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Mount Sinai for her many contributions to society. Helene will be warmly remembered for her kindness and her commitment to so many worthy causes, and we extend our deepest condolences to the entire Kaplan family. Richard A. Friedman and James S.
