My deepest sympathies go out to the family. I just learned of Helene's passing this morning and I'm still in a state of shock. I was privileged to have known Helene most of my life (from when I attended after-school care at the JCC to interning for her in high school; and then working for Alan- my first real job!). Know that she holds a special place in everyone's heart and that is where she and my memories of her will always be.

Peace and love,

Alan Leibowitz

Dear Leibowitz Family,
I first met Helene when I was a camp counselor at the JCC on SW 8th St. I was still in college and she had such an influence on my life. I met up with her many years later as I took my Girl Scout troop to entertain the seniors at the JCC. So many years have passed since we first met in 1978, but my fond memories of Helene will remain forever in my heart.

Dear Family and Friends of Helene:

I was privileged to know Helene for many years through her loving work at the Dave & Mary ALper JCC in Kendall. No matter how difficult, she always came through for my family and me, especially by getting us extra tickets and saving seats for performances. As everyone has noted, Helene was an extradordinary, first-rate human being--always positive, always kind and exhuberant. Just seeing her made my day better. I will never forget her. May her memory be for a blessing.

With much love,
Suzan Farber

Dear Alan and family,
Learned of Helene's death this evening from a mutual friend's email. My friendship with Helene began while studying together for our Master's. Her vibrancy, and love of humor and human interactions was what she was about. Her work at JCC was incredibile-Senior's fashion shows, theatre productions, fund raiser at Dadeland, she could, would and did it all with a huge heart. She will be missed, we are all blessed to have shared time with her. My thoughts are with you all.

SUCH A SADNESS FOR ALL OF US...but imagine the joy she's bringing up above!!

Helene gave me the most memorable intro for a feng shui talk I was to give @ a Seniors brunch...She said...I BET YOU'RE ALL HERE BECAUSE YOU THINK FENG SHUI HAS TO DO W/KINKY SEX!!!
(It doesn't!)

That's our Helene!!!

Dear Alan, Sandy and Family,

We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn that our special Helene passed away last week. Although we knew the challenges that she had been through, she had such a vivacious fighter's spirit we just knew in our hearts that she would win the battle! How could she not? We will miss that sassy glint in her eye and her contagious laughter terribly. We felt like family when were were invited into your home. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all and please let us know if there is anything at all that we can do to help to easy your pain.

Love, Arthur, Gayle and Samantha

Dear Alan & family,
I wanted to add to what Janice wrote - I knew Helene first as a boss and then as a collegue and a friend. She was the positive light in almost any situation. My fellow JCC players will remember her with warmth, affection and awe - she could pack 2000 patrons into our slap-together theater on folding chairs, selling out almost every performance. Then she'd burst into tears when we thanked her for a job well done. I truly miss her.

Dear Leibowitz Family,

None of you would have reason to know me, but I was a high school classmate of your Wife/Mom, and of course knew her as Helene Falk.

She had an endless degree of warmth and care, and a smile that was photogenic. I am so very sorry to learn of her passing.

When I discovered same yesterday in the NY Times, I truly became emotional, as I recalled so many times during those high school days, so very long ago, when we were involved in school activites or attended parties, together. In fact [I may be mistaken] but I think we dated a few times, tho' I admit it was never serious in any way.

Most of all, I just want to say I am so sorry for your loss. No one can ever take from you the many contributions she made to each your lives.

Words cannot even describe the magnitude of the gifts Helene shared with all that knew her. Her lasting legacy is pure, unconditional Love. The big man upstairs is the next closest to this feeling she gave to every single person she met in her lifetime. What a gift she gave to all of us.

Love is spelled H-E-L-E-N-E.

I thank G-d she touched my life.

I know she'll be one of the Angels who speaks to me when I need encouragement and need to know the Truth.

I love you so much Sandy, David and Alan!!

Dear Helene,
I'm sorry I hadn't come around sooner to visit. It had been 6 years since we last spoke. I owe so much to you and even though I thanked you, I never thanked you enough. You gave me my start with teaching magic at the JCC. I went on to become a teacher because of you. Now I own my own business and because of the skills you entrusted to me, I am a better person for having known you. I know you touched many lives in many ways, but I wanted you to know that I have never forgotten what you saw in me and nurtured.

I know where ever you are right now, you are organizing and coordinating something really great. I'll miss you and I'll never forget the trust you had in me.

with love,

My dear friends...although time and distance seperated us, I will always be thankful for knowing your wonderful wife and mother. Helene and I shared many wonderful memories, lots of laughter and a few tears for the 10 years we worked together. She was one-of-a-kind, a larger-than-life woman with a personality more spectacular than any I knew before or will know since. Although her passing will leave a huge void in your lives, I'm sure, she touched countless others the same way she touched me and because of that, her memory will shine on. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you Alan, Sandy and David.

Dear Alan, Sandy, David and family:
We are very saddened by the passing of Helene. There are so many wonderful memories that we hold of her. The many Saturday's spent in K-land and at Killian's football games. Watching David and Sam playing football. Helene and I running up & down the field screaming "That is my baby" and Alan and Eddie seating the the bleachers fixing the world. Watching Sandy (so cute) cheerleading and just hearing Helene be so proud of her children. Memories of dinners, carpools and just enjoying Helene's kindness and love for all.
