I forgot to mention that the ringtone on my cell plays The Miami Beach Rhumba, so that anyone who calls me, gets to hear "Irving"playing the song", and that is my way of keeping his memory alive.

Irving Fields was an amazing performer. My husband Don and I loved going to Nino Tuscany hoping Irving would be there to play the piano and sing. He is playing the piano in heaven now..... what a wonderful man!!

To Ruth and family and friends of Irving Fields,
This poem is based on the song "After the Ball is Over" from Showboat. It is my Memorial Tribute to Irving Fields :
"After this all is over, after the guests are gone, after the waiters start leaving, after the stars are gone, many a heart is aching for Mr. Fields music they recall, yes how has a century plus vanished knowing Irving has seen it all! We know it's not really over, we know it's not really gone, though this ball may be over it's not the end of the song. Many a voice is singing, his music loved by all, yes the Music of Mr. Fields is ringing and tonight "in Heaven" they are having a Ball !" Written in loving memory of my friend Irving Fields by Vail Barrett

Irving Fields was a great composer, performer, and legendary personality. I met him years ago in Miami Beach
and I believe "The Miami Beach Rhumba" to be an American standard.Saw him many times at Ninos and have all of his cd's. His family should be very proud of this
Icon of American music and let him rest in peace, which he so richly deserves. ZTL
