WE CANNOT DIE

"A part of my body will be the wind's hand that makes your cheek smile.

I will be the rain that causes the millet fields to laugh and applaud.

I will be the most intimate currents of movement against your mouth and upon and beneath your mind's infinite seas.

I will become every dancing wing and branch.

Look what a great trade I have made: Two old feet for a billion symphonic, young-whirling limbs.

And my heart, its love for you has grown so much

The sun stands before me, a shy dry wick

That knocks at my spirit's door for its oil.

We cannot die, our beauty is too vast;

And the glorious power of the One who has set every atom reeling has spoken, saying,

'Even an eternity is too small a space to reveal
The full wonder of Myself as you.'"
