NAGEL--Jack.

The Yeshiva University family mourns the passing of Jack Nagel, member of the Yeshiva University Board of Trustees and chairman of Decron Properties. He and his wife of 63 years, Gitta, have been generous supporters of the University in particular and of Jewish life throughout the world. The University awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2005. Jack was a Holocaust survivor who arrived in America with a fervent passion to both preserve and expand his Jewish heritage. He started a real estate business in California, and as he became successful in residential and commercial development, he also used his resources to build and strengthen the Jewish community in America and Israel. Jack was a true tzadik. Jack had an expansive vision of the value of Yeshiva University to the greater Los Angeles Jewish community, and in order to fortify that relationship, he and Gitta established many scholarship programs to encourage more students from California to attend YU. The Nagel name is also well known on the Wilf Campus because their generosity made the Nagel Family Atrium and Student Commons possible. Our condolences go out to his wife, Gitta; their four children: Ron (and Cheryl) Nagel, Esther (and Paul) Lerer, David (and Marnie) Nagel, and Careena (and Drew) Parker; and their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
