I was first inspired by Jacob some 17 years ago, and continue to be so today, clearly along with many others. Being able to smile and laugh in the face of adversity is how I will remember him. Jordana & Gareth and Richard & Heidi and families have all done so many things and committed so much of themselves to help Jacob overcome the numerous challenges he encountered on his journey. The courage of Jacob and his family helped advance scientific and medical discoveries, an everlasting legacy that humbles the rest of us.

Jacob's life shined and inspired everyone. Many were lucky to meet him in person and shared his love and joy for life and many others read about his courageous journey and his family' s battle to find a cure for Canavan Disease. Our heart is heavy with sorrow. We are grateful to have shared Jacob's journey since the beginning and honor the strong legacy that he left behind. He will be remembered for his and his family's great contribution to Canavan Disease long after he is gone. He will always be loved. We extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Jacob's family for the immense loss.

My heart goes out to you as I remember the early days and hospital follow ups to the research we all participated in, the trip to Washington and the early NTSAD conventions. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion, Baruch Dayan HaEmet.
