CASTELLI--Jane E. Jane E. Castelli, 86, a Brooklyn native residing in Hawley, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022, in Scranton, PA, surrounded by her family. Jane was a faithful Catholic and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Born in Flatbush, the third of six children of Cecilia M. and Edward F. Sweeney, Jane graduated from Saint Savior High School and earned her B.A. from The College of New Rochelle and her M.A. from Fordham -- both in history. She worked as the Director of Financial Aid at Adelphi University before becoming a homemaker on Long Island, NY. Jane was an avid historian, genealogist, pianist, poet, writer, and director and loved sharing these passions with others. Above all, Jane adored spending time with her family and was the most gracious host of family gatherings. After raising her family, Jane lived in the Woodloch Springs community in Hawley, PA. She was the editor of the Springs Times community newsletter and the organizer and director of the community theater group, which put on many funny performances. Jane was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Eileen, Kathleen, and Cecilia. She is survived by her loving husband Xavier J. Castelli, her sons Christopher and Brian, daughters-in-law Kaylin and Shalini, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, November 25 from 5pm to 8pm at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home Inc. at 1201 Franklin Avenue in Garden City, NY. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 26 at 9:30am at the Church of Saint Joseph in Garden City, NY, followed by the burial at the Queen of Peace Cemetery.
