Chère Monique,
I am an ancient " ancien élève" of the Lausanne ècole. I remember with great fondness the fondue parties Jean-Paul hosted at La Bonne Soupe. He was the most successful businessman of the Anciens. You and he both were always the exquisite hosts at your restaurant. My wife Edith still cherishes the Bonne Soupe cookbook Jean-Paul gave her. Everybody will forever miss this charming man.

Dear Monique, Francois and Yves; my sincere condolences to you all at this difficult time. I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Uncle Jean-Paul and wish I had the opportunity to have known him better. My Father has shared with me some wonderful life stories, their young lives together and into adulthood. I will remember his wonderful appetite for life and in particular his love and support for my Father and me.

I have known Jean-Paul Picot and his Family for close to 25 years. I am feeling very sad for Monique, Francois, Yves and their Family. All I can say is Jean-Paul Picot was not only "The pope of 55th Street", as we used to joke about it, but as we say it in French "Un Grand Monsieur". Please, receive my most sincere condoleences.

Nos sinceres condoléances de la part de toute la famille Flammang-Lederman, ainsi que de ma mère en Belgique. Mon père de son vivant aimait tellement parler avec Jean-Paul lors de son voyage bi-annuel sur NY. Que de bons souvenirs depuis 1989, un premier déjeuner sur la terrasse.

Chère Monique, C'est avec grande tristesse que j'ai appris le décès de Jean-Paul. Habitant en province, je vous voyais et connaissais peu, mais l'aura de ton cher époux était très rayonnante et Robert l'évoquais souvent. Je souhaite qu'il vogue en paix sur les beaux chemins de l'éternité.

Thank you Monique, François and Yves for sharing Jean Paul with me. He spoke often of all of you and clearly loved his family. He was always in the service industry - with a frying pan or a Bourse or a donation. I will miss him deeply.

Je n'oubliais jamais Jean-Paul. La fidélité de sa généreuse amitié, son humour, sa gentillesse envers chacun. J'étais très fier, à chaque étape de l'existence familiale, professionnelle et sociale de mon ancien élève. Mais tout cela grâce à vous, Monique, épouse bien aimée, mère attentionnée, collaboratrice avisée de Jean-Paul, cordon bleu signant avec lui un remarquable livre de cuisine, souriante, hospitalière, tant à New York, à Paris qu'à Long Island.
En attendant de vous dire de vive voix mes sentiments, j'adresse à toute la famille Picot, ma vive sympathie et ma grande amitié.

I was privileged to be invited to Jean Paul and Monique's home on two occasions, Sarah and Francois' joyous wedding and later a wonderful dinner on a beautiful summer
evening. I will always treasure those memories and the Picot's Joie de Vivre. They taught by living.

Mr. Jean-Paul seemed like a person who lived his life to the fullest. Now's he's asleep hoping to hear the words Lazarus heard when Jesus resurrected him saying "Lazarus come out" meaning from the grave. You have my condolences.

J'ai connu Monsieur Picot a travers son neveu Frederic qui est un ami de longue date. J'ai eu l'occasion d'apprecier sa generosite et sa gentillesse des notre premiere rencontre a New York en 1989. Mes pensees sont avec sa famille et son neveu en ce moment douloureux.

A wonderful man with a generous spirit who was France's unofficial Ambassador to NYC. A man who helped so many French citizens with a helping hand to establish careers in the food industry. A man who left his mark in a loving and positive way to those lucky enough to cross his path. Jean-Paul you will be missed but never forgotten.
