God worked powerfully through Dr. Jeffrey Weber to cure me of stage 3C melanoma in the right axilary lymph nodes. I was on a clinical trial of his using ipilimumab. This was in 2007 at the Moffitt Cancer Center, inTampa , Fl.
Ipilimumab was later approved by the FDA, I believe only the second medication approved for the treatment of melanoma at that time.
I never had, nor will I ever have a doctor like Dr. Weber. I had so many questions and he had so much patience. He gave me all the time I needed to work through my concerns. I never had a doctor so caring, so profesional, so attentive and with his special sense of humor. He was an earth angel in my life.
I wanted to ask him another question and just found out about his passing.
I am still alive due to your expertise, your love of immunolgy and your loving care. I shall never forget you Dr. Weber!
In Costa Rica the supermarkets are called "Super". There is
a supermarket called "Super Weber". I took a picture of the sign, gave him a copy and told him he's definitely Super! Everytime I pass by there I think dearly of him.
You finished your work and now are at rest. Thank you for your life's work and positively impacting so many peoples health.
Sincerely,
Jim Martinson

My mom was a participant in the clinical trial for Melanoma at USC. Dr Weber was a positive, professional, and caring person. Mom lived for 15 years past her late stage diagnosis. So glad we got to work with him. Rest in Peace Dr Weber!!

My family and I are devastated by the loss of Dr. Weber. The man, we all felt, we were guided to by Devine intervention.
In 2017 he began treating me through trials of his new immunotherapy drugs. During the treatments, when the immunotherapy destroyed my pituitary gland, which he explained might happen, he visited me everyday in the hospital as they adjusted my replacement steroids. If the doctors weren´t treating me properly he was there to GUIDE them.
I was suffering terrible leg pain at home after a treatment and Dr. Weber said to go to my local ED and have the ED doctor call him. They were able to stop the pain through his direction. He was always there when I needed him.
On that Monday in September, when we first met, and he had confirmed that the melanoma had spread to all my organs including my brain.
Dr. Weber arranged for Dr. Konziolka the neuro-surgeon to treat the lesions on my brain with Cyber-knife and began my first immunotherapy infusion session all within 4 days. Dr. Weber said, "time is critical in treating cancer".
After the years of treatments and follow up scans I felt we became friends. During follow up appointments he would talk about where the best chocolate in Sweden can be found. He knew because of all his speaking engagements in Europe. After reading comments by his other patients, it´s obvious he became friends with all his patients.
He saved me and I´m able to enjoy life and my eight grand children.
Thank you to his wife and family for sharing this fantastic man with us.
He was a very caring and devoted Doctor who loved his work and helping people.
God bless you Dr. Weber. We love you.

Dr. Weber was at the head of the team that saved my life. He was always so very kind to me, funny, generous, curious. In my case I experienced what it was like to have a doctor put a patient first. Countless times he helped me refer a friend for the right care.

And he saved my life and allowed me to know my young son and to watch my daughter grow. I carry him in my heart, and I want to thank his family for giving him the time he needed to care for people such as myself. I really miss him, and I will for years to come.

I send my deepest condolences to Dr Jeffrey Weber's family and friends on behalf of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI). May the cherished memories of a lifetime spent with him provide some solace for the pain caused by his passing. Dr Weber was one of JNCI's most devoted Associate Editors. Since 2012, he has lent his considerable intellectual energy and experience to help JNCI curate the best possible papers to advance knowledge on melanoma therapy and related topics. In sympathy,

Words can never adequately express my respect and admiration for Dr Weber as a doctor but also as a human being. His concern and compassion for our son, Jim, manifested itself in many ways, but never more so than on New Year's Day 2014. He spent the entire day communicating with doctors between two hospitals across Florida to get Jim transferred to Moffitt´s hospital so that Dr Weber could start what he called the "kitchen sink" treatment as quickly as possible. The treatment worked and Jim has been in remission for over ten years. Without a doubt, it was providential that Dr Weber was Jim's doctor. I cried when I read that he had passed away from cancer. May God bless his family at this very sad time.

Dr. Weber was a great doctor and scientist, he saved my life from stage 4 melanoma, when there was no hope left. I am a surgeon myself and was well aware of the seriousness of my situation. However, at my very first appointment, Dr. Weber told me that I had a very high chance of recovery. I am grateful to God that I met such a talented doctor. My family and I are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us. He could have done so much more for science and patients. Eternal memory to you, Dr. Weber, you will forever remain in our hearts.

Unbelievable news. I can´t believe that my beloved doctor - Dr. Jeffrey Weber is no longer with us. How will I come into this office with him not here with us? An irreplaceable person.
Sincerest condolences to Dr. Webers family,, patients, nurses, nurse practitioners, secretaries and doctors.
Dr. Weber was a world- renowned oncologist, clinician, extraordinary leader in melanoma research, that cared deeply for all his patients. Dr. Weber mentored numerous doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners. His knowledge invaluable. Dr. Weber was strict and demanded only the best out of every one.
I was lucky enough to fall into Dr. Webers care in March 2017. I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma the progressed to the lymph nodes. Immediately, it felt like a death sentence with no hope. Dr. Weber had a way to give everyone hope. There is nothing that can´t be fixed. Dr. Weber was very strict. Do what I tell you and you will live. Multiple CT scans, MRIs, biopsies followed. I was lucky enough for Dr. Weber to push into the group of trial immunotherapy treatments. Lucky was I to qualify because very few people accepted into this trial treatment. I was started on oral nobleman and immunotherapy drugs. But 6 months of constant vomiting led to IV therapy of chemotherapy and immunotherapy IV treatment for 24 weeks and then repeating cycle over for about 2 years. I am thankful to God that I fell into Dr. Webers hands. He always gave you hope, lifted your spirits no matter what the situation was. Always pleasant, laughing, making jokes. He made a difference to every person he touched. Always laughing giving hope. I loved the guy.
Dr. Weber was extremely knowledgeable in his field and generations will be healed by his contributions that he made to the field.
I will always remember the numerous office visits with him running in , laughing with his glasses on examining me and then clapping, congratulating me, good job, ultimately I got better.
An extraordinary doctor with great bed side manner, fantastic person, my doctor, my friend, like a family member, respected every nationality.
Remember being at NYU hospital and Dr. Weber cut hi trip short, flew in, running in with his Panama shorts, straw hat, brief case to visit and check up on my condition. He was a no nonsense doctor. Have all the residents and doctors he´ll. What are you doing? Treat him with the following. What a doctor? What devotion. Always running back n forth between hospital and office.
Ultimately he saved my life with trial immunotherapy. Remember Dr. Weber saying you still have to walk your daughter down the aisle for her wedding. Luckily I lived to see that day. What a blessing. Thank you Dr. Weber for everything you did for me.
Now I´ve been cancer free for more than 1 year. What an accomplishment.
Dr. Webers loss is immense, no doctor can measure up to him or follow his shoes.
We are heartbroken of his passing, crying, remembering him.
May his memory be always remembered and eternal.
Rest in peace!

Sincerely,
Peter Plisak

I was blessed with the privilege of working alongside Dr. Jeffrey Weber for the past year and a half. He stood at the forefront of countless breakthroughs in melanoma immunotherapy research, piloting new experimental treatments and ultimately saving the lives of so many scared, deserving patients who were preparing for the worst. He was revered as one of the most respectable physicians in the field and commanded every room he walked into. He pushed all of us to consistently excel at our maximum potential because his patients deserved nothing short of the finest care; they always came first. He was cherished, admired, and idolized - yet, he carried himself with a grace and humility that made working with him light and refreshing. He worked until his very last day. He never faltered, never rested. His practice was his pride, his purpose, and his legacy. Beyond expression, I am thankful to have been even the smallest part of it. I hope as he's above us, he can look down and see the world of a difference he made for every person he touched, and for all those in future generations who will be healed by his contributions to the field.

Dr. Weber, thank you. I wish I had said that to you more.

I had the privilege of working with Jeff "back in the day" (the late 1980s). We would often moonlight in the Leland Hospital ER in suburban Washington DC to help augment our meager NCI salaries. Beyond the great translational melanoma scientist that he was, Jeff Weber was a superlative physician, among the best I ever had the honor of working with.
Jeff, you did good work. Smooth sailing.

Almost 8 years ago (March 25, 2016) I visited Dr. Weber for the first time. He gave the diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic melanoma and said I should begin chemo. My perception of chemo is that it may keep one alive for a few months, but you are basically poisoning yourself. I asked what if I did nothing? He said I would probably die within 6 months or so. I was 78 at the time. He calmly asked if I would consider immunotherapy and I immediately agreed to do that and the rest, as they say, is history. With the care he provided I am now a healthy about-to-be 87 year old person who owes my very life to his brilliant and always kind expertise. For his family and colleagues, please accept my gratitude for his coming into my life. My family and I all loved him and his kindness over the years. Our thoughts, prayers and gratitude are with you all at this difficult time.
