JEREMY SAFRAN Obituary
The New School community mourns the loss of Jeremy D. Safran, psychology professor and former co-chair of the Department of Psychology at The New School for Social Research. An internationally renowned psychotherapist, Professor Safran was deeply respected for his work on psychoanalytic theory and practice, and was a beloved teacher and mentor. A memorial service is planned for the third week of June, to be announced on newschool.edu. Colleagues are planning a fall 2019 conference to celebrate his life and work. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Jennifer Hunter, and children, Ayla and Ellie. Jeremy and I went to High School and University in Calgary together. Even then he was a thoughtful and caring man. An old soul.

I was a former psychotherapy patient of Dr. Safran, and was shocked and saddened by the horrible news. May this wonderful man rest in peace and his memory be a blessing to his family.
