I came into contact with Jerry several years ago. I listened to the video on his website with his account of his trip to North Korea and then emailed him to call his attention to a very small mistake I had noticed. Jerry responded most graciously and asked me if I had any involvement with East Asia. When I replied that I did, he invited me to a series of roundtables at the Council on Foreign Relations, which I enjoyed immensely. Jerry was able to attract some extraordinary speakers and their remarks were enhanced by his incisive comments. It was a real privilege to get to know someone who was both a giant in his field and a genuinely nice person.

Professor Jerome Cohen saved my law career I lost when left Vietnam as refugee in 1975, by welcoming me to Harvard Law East Asian Legal Studies Program where I authored two well-received books, one is The Vietnamese Tradition Of Human Rights.He is my life benefactor.

My profound condolences to his family. Professor Cohen was extraordinarily kind to me when I was a student of his at NYU Law. I have the fondest memories of him and his class. May his memory be a blessing.
