Our deepest sympathy to all the family.
My fond memory of Joan was her keen interest in the solar energy industry. She felt obliged to support companies trying to get that industry going. As far back as the 1980's I recall discussing companies and policy options with her. I made a donation to the Solar Foundation in her honor. They are doing excellent work reporting on the progress of the industry in regards to employment. Joan would be so pleased that DC, the Nation's Capital, has committed to 100% clean energy by 2032.
Rest in Peace in the Sunshine.

Hoping that the words in Ps.9:9 bring peace and comfort to you and your family in this difficult time, knowing that all help comes from God even in our darkest days. Accept my condolence.

As secretary to David Challinor from 1979 to 1986 I had frequent interactions with Joan and the family. She was working on her doctorate at the time and I was in awe with her energy and confidence in achieving anything she set out to do. We continued contact over the years. Deepest condolences to the entire family. An era has passed. She will be missed.

I was a class below Joan at the Brearley School. Joan stood out for her athletic ability, and her strong moral compass and out-spoken ideas. Affer many years, I caught up with her again at the Cosmos Club and thoroughly enjoyed her company. She was a memorable person. I will miss her and send mu thoughts and sympathy to all who were close to her. Alice T. Day, 2124 Newport Place, NW, Washington DC 20037
