My dear Sherry,
I cannot express how shocked I was to hear of John´s death and how sad I am for you and your daughters on his loss. I will always think of him as pictured in the obituary: the cute guy with the most creative mind and the ability to carry out complex experiments well before most people could even envision the goals as realistic. He brought so much excitement to the research he was doing and to his surrounding colleagues. Having retired in 2008, I have pretty much been unaware of the activity at Downstate since then but I have always been so grateful that you and he joined me in my excursion to Brooklyn.
I send my heartfelt sympathy,
Susan
