Dear Faith,
John lived a beautiful, generous life. No matter what the longevity or the accomplishments, there is never a good time to lose a mate. 69 years is a feast of marital love that I know enhanced the three generations of Furths you both were and are able to witness. May his memory continue to be a blessing to all those he touched in his life and all those who loved him. With profound condolence, Tovah Feldshuh with Andrew H. Levy

John: You were a great friend and helped my parents in so many ways. You were also a great friend and so helpful to the entire Lang family. I'm so sad at your passing.

On behalf of the Grand St. Settlement Board of Directors, participants, and broader community, I share my deep condolences and gratitude for the legacy that John Furth leaves behind a lasting legacy in the New York City community, particularly through his dedicated service to Grand Street Settlement, where he served as a board member and president for an extraordinary 40 years.
Mr. Furth was instrumental in the development and launch of the Grand Street community center at 80 Pitt Street in 1974, achieved through a pioneering partnership with the New York City Housing Authority. His vision and commitment were vital during a tumultuous financial period for the city in the early 1970s when he and the Grand Street board successfully established an endowment to support the settlement“s program operations, ensuring vital services continued for those in need.
Mr. Furth was a beloved figure within and beyond the walls of Grand Street Settlement where he was known for his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others and fostering community resilience. His contributions have touched countless lives, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.
