JOHN STREICKER

STREICKER--John H. 1942-2022. John Harrison Streicker died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and children on March 10, 2022, he was 79 years old. John was born on June 19, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York to Dr Walter and Shirley Streicker, the eldest of three boys. John graduated Brooklyn Friends Academy then went onto Princeton University where he studied at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy and Yale Law School, and received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the City University of New York. John's professional achievements are innumerable: among them being Chairman of Sentinel Real Estate, and serving under President Bush in the years following 9/11 on the President's Intelligence Advisory Board (PFIAB). Philanthropically, he gave generously and with enduring impact, most notably to Congregation Emanu-El of New York, where he is past President and founded the Streicker Center, and Princeton University, where he endowed numerous scholarships and the Streicker Bridge. John's favorite pastimes included family, expansive travel, sailing and wine. John spent many hours on the water and in regattas - of many, his proudest racing achievement was winning the Charleston Race Week in 2015. He had over 800 hectares under vine in Western Australia, where he owned Clairault Wines and Streicker Wines. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Executives for National Security (BENS) and was a member of the boards of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers and the Yale Law School Foundation. He served on the board of the Graduate Center Foundation of the City University of New York and the Board of Directors of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE), as Chairman of Manhattan's Community Board #5 and as adjunct professor at Yale's School of Organization and Management. Mr. Streicker was the Chairman and founder of the Wildlife Australia Fund and a Board Member of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; and their children: Margaret, Michael and wife Bridget, Elizabeth and husband Julien and Eleanor; and grandchildren: Aviva, Samantha, David, Charlotte, Phillip, Stella, Nicolas and William; and his brothers, Paul and William and their families.
