Joseph P. Clavin

CLAVIN--Joseph P., "Uncle Joe" on November 9, 2007 at the age of 85 with a classic personality. Graduate of Our Lady of Angels Grammar School. Poly Prep Country Day School and Norwich University. World War II Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. After his tour of duty he attended the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Upon graduating his faith led him to monastery life as a Trappist Monk. He later went on to serve as a Licensed Funeral Director working with his family until the early 1980's. Upon retirement he traveled extensively throughout the world, settling in Gulfport, Mississippi for several years. Illness brought him back to his roots in Bay Ridge days before Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulfport region. He leaves behind two sisters, Mary I. Shanahan and Peggy Brown. He now joins his three brothers, Maj. Michael E. Clavin (killed in action in Germany), James R. Clavin and Thomas A. Clavin, all veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. He was a proud uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visiting will take place at his family's home, Clavin Funeral Home, 7722 Fourth Ave, Brooklyn on Monday, Veterans Day, 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, 9:30am at Our Lady of Angels R.C. Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his beloved Our Lady of Angels Church, 7320 Fourth Ave, Brooklyn, New York 11209. Semper Fi
