JOSEPH TOCCI Obituary

TOCCI--Joseph S., of Manhattan and Sherman, CT, known to friends and family as Joe, passed away on July 10, 2023. Beloved husband, father and father-in-law of Michele Cohn Tocci, Valerie Tocci Longobardi and Frank Longobardi, cherished brother of Rosemarie Tocci and Roselani Smith, and adoring grandfather of Lia and Sophia Longobardi. Raised in Brooklyn and Tuckahoe, NY, Joe received his undergraduate degree from Pace College and his MBA from Fordham University. After working in the accounting departments of several major corporations, including Random House and CBS, Joe earned his CPA and had a long and fulfilling career as a tax and financial advisor. Joe was a talented golfer, a wonderful cook, a passionate gardener, an ebullient raconteur, a loyal and steadfast friend and provider of good counsel who fought valiantly against sickness until his last breath.

I sent Joe birthday wishes and when I received no response after several days I learned of his death . My deepest condolences to Michele and family on your loss. Joe and I grew up together in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn and I have very fond memories of our youth. He was a terrific person who had a keen mind and a great sense of humor. È una notizia molto triste che ci addolora tutti. Ancora non riusciamo a crederci.
Caro Joe, ti ricordo con affetto e stima, ti ricordo con il tuo carattere sensibile sempre alla ricerca delle radici, ti ricordo allegro e divertente, ti ricordo curioso di conoscere la cultura italiana. Ti ricordo.
Ho delle immagini che mi porterò sempre con me.
Stavamo su una panchina a parlare e dalla quella panchina si vedeva Manhattan. L´ultima volta che sono venuto a NY con Ludovica abbiamo fatto un giro nella baia di Hudson. C´era anche Valerie. Ricordo la piacevolissima serata nella vostra casa con Michele, Valerie e Ludovica. Tu mi mostravi con orgoglio la macchina per fare i cappuccini.
Sono tante le immagini e ricordi di te che mi porterò con me. Grazie di tuo quello che hai fatto e soprattutto per l´attenzione e l´affetto che ci hai donato.

Hello Michele, hello Valerie, hello Rosemarie, hello to all the American family of NY
Only now we heard about your loss.
We can imagine your great pain. We are near you.
This is very sad news that grieves us all. We still can't believe it.
Dear Joe, I remember you with affection and regard, I remember you with your sensitive character always in search of your origin, I remember you cheerful and fun, I remember your curiousity about Italian culture. I remember you.
I have some images that I will always carry with me.
We were on a bench talking and from that bench we could see Manhattan. The last time I came to NY with Ludovica we took a tour of Hudson Bay. Valerie was there too. I remember the very pleasant evening in your house with Michele, Valerie and Ludovica. You proudly showed me the cappuccino machine.
There are many images and memories of you that I will take with me. Thank you for what you have done and for all for the attention and affection that you gave us.
You will always be in our hearts.
