KEVIN MERSZEI Obituary

MERSZEI--Kevin Zoltan, age 29, died November 22, 2013 at his family home in Greenwich, CT. Born in Los Angeles January 6, 1984, he was the son of Aimee and Zoltan Merszei. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Greenwich. Kevin attended Greenwich Country Day School and The Eaglebrook School. He graduated Greenwich High School in 2003 and Arizona State University in 2008. From childhood, Kevin was fascinated with aviation. His natural aptitude earned him his private pilots license at age 18. At the time of his death he held FAA certifications in the most complex commercial aircraft in use today. He had worked as co-pilot of a private jet in Nigeria, instructor in an advanced aircraft simulator, and specialized cargo transport. In 2013 Kevin moved to Miami to fly for Ameriflight, domestically and internationally. Kevin loved life's pleasures, particularly travel. Over the years, he visited some 30 European and Asian countries. Intrigued with foreign cuisines, he mastered many in the kitchen. His loyalty, generosity, infectious and wry sense of humor, and his love for those closest to him will be remembered and sorely missed. Kevin is survived by his parents, now of Palm Beach, Florida; his wife Cristina whom he married in June; his half-siblings Leslie (Kliew) of Thailand, Geoffrey (Mary Jane) of Switzerland, Karen (Richard Stern) of Washington, D.C., and his uncle Frederick Morner of Oakland, CA. A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna Church Riverside CT at 12:00 noon Friday November 29. In lieu of flowers, donate in Kevin's memory to Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

I was one of Kevin's teachers at GCDS. What a character he was - and what a joy he was to teach. There was so much life in him that I find it impossible that his incredible spirit was among us for only a short time. Kevin used to leave my class each day by saying, "Mr. K - I'll check you out later." Kevin, I will check on you later, don't you worry, my friend. Mr. Shaun Kelly, GCDS

Dearest Kevin,
"So go and run free with the angels
Dance around the golden clouds
For the lord has chosen you to be with him
And we should feel nothing but proud
Although he has taken you from us
And our pain a lifetime will last
Your memory will never escape us
But make us glad for the time we did have
Your face will always be hidden
Deep inside our hearts
Each precious moment you gave us
Shall never, ever depart
So go and run free with the angels
As they sing so tenderly
And please be sure to tell them
To take good care of you for me"

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Please find peace and comfort in Psalms 65:2.

With melted wax and loosened strings,
Sank hapless Icarus upon faithless wings,
For when the buckled spar lets down the grinding span,
The blame for loss incurred confers upon a man,
And grief is thus a falling leaf upon the dawning of the day.

RIP Boyo, you sailed into the sunset too soon !

My love,

I have no words to explain the pain I am going thru. I just can't understand why you had to go so fast. I will love you forever and I miss you so much.
