Dr. Gardner was my fellowship Program Director. He was one of the most caring and brilliant hematologist I have ever met. His presence will always be missed. My best to his enduring family. Rest in peace Lawrence, I hope my former fellows and I are making you proud.

It is with great sadness I only learned of Lawrence's passing today. I was lucky enough to train in the lab next to his and always appreciated his guidance or thoughts on the experiments we were working on. I will always think of him with fond memories and a smile.

I only just learned of Dr. Gardner's passing today. I only met him once for a consultation and he was very kind and thoughtful in reviewing my case. We traded parenting stories. He clearly adored his family. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and that he was preceded by his wife. Such a terrible loss at such a young age. My thoughts are with their family and especially with their daughter.

I lived in the same building (a vertical block association) and babysat for Lawrence, so my memories go back a long way. He was a sweet inquisitive kid, and great fun. I did not know him in his professional and rich family life, but none of the wonderful comments and memories here surprise me. He was a special kid, a special man, and from a special family. My love to Jackie, Sarah and Tom

I worked with Dr. Gardner for several years as his Medical Assistant on Fridays during his time at The NYU Ambulatory Center. He was kind, funny and a delight to work for. I will never forget him!

Dr. Gardner was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I had the pleasure of working for at NYU. His passing is a terrible loss and he will be missed.

I do not know either Katie or Lawrence but I do not PS 166, 44 and Bronx Science where I attended x3 and B'nai Jesherun where I grew up. To know these experiences were his life brings me comfort at this time. May his life continue to serve as a blessing for Evie guide us to live as he lived.

There is less light in the world with Lawrence's passing. His kindness, generosity and sense of humor were unsurpassed. He was a phenomenal man.

Lawrence was my doctor for almost a decade. His expertise saved my life several times, but his spirit and generosity gave a healing force to our lives each visit. My family and I felt he was part of our being. His love for Evie and Katie were passions we related to. He lives on with each of us, unique and brave, funny and encouraging. Thank you forever, Lawrence!!!

Even before last Tuesday, I missed my good friend Lawrence. We lived oceans apart, but he was one of the first people I called every time I landed in NYC. Alone and with the wonderful Katie and Evie he visited me in Rome, where he learned his crucial bit of Italian: grazie, ma sono impegnato.
I will forever be grateful to B'nai Jeshurun for making it possible to participate in Lawrence's memorial service, via live streaming.

Lawrence was one of the smartest, funniest, and kindest people I've known. He gave me my own hard-cover "The Catcher in the Rye," because he was appalled I had never read it. His friendship sustained me through our rigorous medical training. It was a blessing to have known him.

I met Lawrence shortly after we moved to New York from
Massachusetts. For quite a few years, we had a dinner date
on December 24th at a Chinese restaurant- something that
is a tradition for some New Yorkers. He was a very kind man
and gave me the only set of baseball cards that I own.
I am glad to have known him.

I remember Lawrence fondly from our friendship while attending PS 166, IS 44 and Bronx Science. It was comforting for me to hear today via livestream a little about his life since then, and some of the wonderful friendships and professional impact he has had on this world. He will be missed. May he and Katie's names be a blessing.
