My most sincere condolences to Monsieur Sachs' family. He was my French language teacher at Dalton during my high school years. I was so taken with him that I introduced him to my family, and soon enough, he became our family's French tutor! After reading the many touching rememberences here, it sounds as if we were not alone. Monsieur Sachs became a member of our family- we loved his sense of humor, his charm, his audacity, we loved the man himself. As I get older, I've learned all that is ever really left behind of ourselves is how we may have affected others. It seems as if Monsieur Sachs left a LOT of himself behind. Not to be distasteful, but I will always remember a line he used in class: Where there is a will, there are relatives! He always made me laugh (and work on my pronunciation). I will never forget Monsieur Sachs and know neither will his many, many grateful students.

I was a student of Monsieur Sachs at Brearley in the late 1960's. He left me with a love of the French language. I can still recite "Le Corbeau et Le Renard" from memory. My sympathies to his family.

My condolences to the Sachs family. Mr. Sachs was my French teacher at Brearley. He was always very kind and an excellent teacher. He knew that I was Greek and would often call on me in class by saying "ella" which loosely translated means "come on" in Greek. Since I was new to the school, I am sure that most of my classmates thought that he was calling me by a short version of my name rather than addressing me in Greek. I have often thought of him fondly and am sure that he will be missed dearly.

Please accept my condolences to M. Sachs family. He was my French teacher at The Brearley School and I have always remembered the confidence he inspired when I was struggling with the language. I truly regret not having had the opportunity to thank him during his lifetime. May his soul be blessed.

My condolences to M. Sachs's family. I studied French with him at Brearley. He was an engaging, stimulating teacher, and I learned a great deal from him. I am sure he will live on in the memories of many of his students.
