I met Leonard Bernstein at a writing class that he taught at Hofstra University. At the time, I faced challenges with difficult editors, Mr. Bernstein offered to help me navigate the business world of publishing. He offered me invaluable advice and guidance that helped me succeed in publishing. He was always kind, considerate, helpful and thoughtful. I admired his dedication to his family, his integrity, and his willingness to help others. I will always be grateful for the support he offered.

I just recently learned of Len’s death from a mutual friend. I am so saddened! He was a most talented, convivial, witty and delightful guy. I will retain very fond memories of our times together with his marvelous late wife Rita on Long Island and elsewhere those many years ago. Condolences to his children and their children from an ardent admirer.

I’m very saddened by this loss of Leonard. He was my official family correspondent of everything Bernstein. I enjoyed our conversation about his books. He was a true Renaissance man. May his memory be a blessing! With love Susan Seidner-Katz

The New York Wine and Food Society is greatly saddened and mourns the loss of one of our longest standing members, Leonard Bernstein. Leonard was a member of the Society since 1958. He attended many of our events over more than five decades. Leonard could always be counted on to express his thoughtful clear views on wine. We will miss his wit and insights, especially at our tasting events which he particularly enjoyed attending.
He will be very much missed by his friends at the New York chapter of the International Wine and Food Society and throughout the world.
