I adored my cousin Lewis from my earliest memory. He was mentor, guardian, close friend and support through the entirety of my life. How excited I would be, as a little girl, to see him through the window of the train as it pulled into the Bayonne station to take me to my Aunt Marion's for a very child-centered weekend. Often he and Norman would walk with me to Wolffs for an ice cream cone, swinging me up in the air between them.
I have kept a few of his last emails to me, including one just before he died so tragically and
unexpectedly to remind myself of our bond and
the caring we shared. He was my link to my dad who died in my first year, sharing his memories of him with me. After cousin Bernice died, he became
my sole link to a family which was already remote,
and with his passing is now entirely gone. I will always admire and miss and love him. I am enormously grateful to have had him in my life for the love and continuity and reassurance he provided me. Natalie Ripps (Hawley)

I will miss hearing from Lewis, My uncle from an other mother. He always remembered his cousin "Dickie's" Birthday and would remind me that I did have family up North.
He will always be in my memories.
My thoughts and condolences to my Ripps family.

lewis was a dear man and a true mensch. he was always kind and helpful to the epstein clan, particularly to my dad, Morton Epstein, who lived in the same building. for us, he and marcia were sturdy ships who we could call and ask for help with dad. and, with lewis and marcia, there was never anything they wouldnt or couldnt do to help. may his memory be a blessing.
