LILYAN GLUSKER Obituary

GLUSKER--Lilyan Goldman. Lil Glusker born December 30, 1925, died on Saturday, July 30, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Irwin; mother of Anne and Peter; grandmother of Martin, Joe, Sam, and Abby; mother-in-law of Scott and Dalia; daughter of Frances Sheier and Joseph Goldman; sister of Irene; cousin, aunt, dear friend. Daughter of Brooklyn, she lived her entire adult life on the Upper West Side. She graduated from Brooklyn College in 1947 and had a long career as a copy editor. A precise cook and forgiving grammarian, she followed politics avidly and read the New York Times devotedly. She loved the old farmhouse she and Irwin shared for 50 years in Bridgehampton, NY, where she refinished yard sale finds, stirred cauldrons of strawberry jam, and was the impresario of countless Thanksgivings. She will be profoundly missed and always remembered. Our hearts ache. (Contributions may be made in her name to Planned Parenthood or the Coalition for the Homeless.)

I miss both Lil, and Irwin, and their wonderful farmhouse in Watermill, but most especially on Broadway and the Upper West Side, which isn´t the same without them and where I still half expect to see them! Lovely Lil, so glad I got to know her (them) and enjoyed many years of friendship.
